Description
A Red Wine from Pomerol by Clos René
The Estate
With very ancient origins, the Clos René was formerly named "Reney" on the map of the engineer-geographer Pierre de Belleyme. The estate has been in the same family for several generations. It is now managed by Jean-Marie Garde.
The Vineyard
The vineyard is located on the western slope of the Pomerol plateau, on the right bank of Bordeaux. With an average age of 35 years, the Clos René vineyard spans 15 hectares. The vines are planted on gravel and ancient sands dating from the Quaternary period, resting on iron slag subsoils. The vineyard is mainly composed of merlot and cabernet franc.
