Precursor of organic agriculture in the Rhone Valley, Domaine Combier here introduces its Crozes-Hermitage 2011 Clos des Grives. This Domaine flagship cuvee comes from one of the oldest Syrah vineyard of the Domaine, which gives the wine a good ageing potential. This 2011 Clos des Grives displays a nice ruby-tinted intense red colour with purple glints. On the nose, it unveils delicate aromas of blackberry, blackcurrant or even violet. On airing, it is accompanied by more spicy and woody notes on a liquorice backbone. On the palate, it shows a good density and a blended tannic structure that confer it a nice balance. The finish, persistent, coats the palate with woody and fruity flavours.
Wine Advocate-Parker :
Another flamboyant, sexy, pleasure- bent beauty is the 2011 Crozes Hermitage Clos des Grives. Loaded with notions of ripe purple fruits, garrigue, violets and potpourri, this medium-bodied, rounded and textured 2011 is drinking at point today, yet should easily keep through 2021.
