Kristen Bieler

A robust, dense version in a challenging vintage, this red leads with graphite minerality and white pepper spiciness. This is tightly wound, with notes of earth, tar, tarragon and grilled mesquite smoke. Earl gray tannins keep this upright through the firm, tangy finish. Needs time to integrate and loosen up. Best from 2025 through 2035. 4,000 cases made, 250 cases imported.

A delicate nose of currants, black pepper, blueberries, and leaves. It’s medium-bodied with creamy tannins and fresh acidity. Round and velvety with a delicious core of cherries at the center. It’s silky with finesse and balance. Vivid finish with black pepper notes. Drink or hold.

There are two Côte Rôties in the vintage from Ogier. The 2021 Côte Rôtie Mon Village is forward and charming, with classic black raspberry, spice, spring flowers, and subtle gamey notes in its medium-bodied, silky, elegant profile. It shines in the vintage and is beautifully balanced.

From the very first sip, a silky tannin texture that wasn’t present in the Saint-Joseph, with fine, fresh fruit and spicier notes on the finish; for a blended Côte-Rôtie, it will age very well.

This cuvée is the estate’s signature, a reliable Côte Rôtie crafted from a blend of different parcels. The 2021 shows very pleasant fruit, juicy and crisp, with discreet élevage. Lovely fresh, spicy finish.

Description

A Côte-Rôtie wine combining refinement and pure expression of the terroir

The property
Established for six generations in the heart of the Northern Rhône Valley, the Ogier family is among the emblematic figures of the great Rhône wines. With a solid training in viticulture and oenology, complemented by experiences in Burgundy and internationally, Stéphane Ogier joined the family estate in 1997, supporting his father Michel. Faithful to a demanding parcel approach, the estate produces limited edition cuvées, which reveal with precision and elegance the uniqueness of each terroir. This quest for excellence places the wines of Domaine Stéphane Ogier among the unmissable references of the region.

The vineyard
Under the impetus of Stéphane Ogier, the vineyard has considerably expanded, going from 2.5 hectares in 1997 to over 20 hectares today. This Rhône Valley estate signs great expressions of terroir within prestigious appellations such as Côte-Rôtie, Saint-Joseph, Condrieu and the IGP Collines Rhodaniennes. Each plot is vinified separately in order to preserve the identity and richness of its origin.

Blend
This Côte-Rotie Mon Village 2021 from Domaine Stéphane Ogier is a 100% syrah.
