Kristen Bieler

An attractive white, with a lush offering of poached pear and fresh apricot flavors set against dried thyme and spicy lime zest acidity. Flinty mineral hints nicely offset the round, ripe palate on the medium finish, marked by floral and green almond notes. Well-done. Viognier, Roussanne, Marsanne, Clairette, Bourboulenc and Grenache Blanc. Drink now. 6,000 cases imported.

An aromatic white Cotes-du-Rhone with lots of floral aromas, including pink roses. Ripe and medium- to full-bodied. Long, creamy finish with a touch of fine tannins balancing this neatly. A cuvee based on viognier with small amounts of grenache blanc and roussanne. Drink from release.

Orange blossom, spice, and honeyed stone fruits all emerge from the 2023 Cotes Du Rhône Blanc. Based on 60% Viognier, 15% Roussanne, 10% Marsanne, and 8% Clairette, with the rest Bourboulenc and Grenache Blanc, it offers medium-bodied richness, beautiful purity, and an elegant, balanced style. Brought up all in stainless steel, it is best enjoyed over the coming 2-3 years. Drink 2025-2028.

Description

A fruity white wine from the Côtes du Rhône with a beautiful richness

The property

The E. Guigal Estate was founded in 1946 by Etienne Guigal, in Ampuis. His son, Marcel, took over in 1961. Today, the 3rd generation continues the legacy and values of this iconic family house in the Rhône Valley.

Côte-Rôtie, Condrieu, Hermitage, Châteauneuf-du-Pape, Saint-Joseph, Crozes-Hermitage, the E. Guigal estate oversees a mosaic of vineyards located in numerous appellations that form a range of Rhône Valley wines of impeccable quality.

Over the vintages, the E. Guigal house has experienced strong growth, notably becoming the owner in 1995 of the famous Château d’Ampuis, as well as several wine estates (Jean-Louis Grippat, Domaine de Vallouit, Domaine de Bonserine and Château de Nalys, in Châteauneuf-du-Pape).

The vineyard

This cuvée from E. Guigal is a Rhône Valley wine made from white grapes from vines about 25 years old grown on very varied soils made up of sediments and granitic limestones.

Vinification and aging

Traditional vinifications with control of alcoholic fermentation temperatures around 18°C. The aging of this Côtes du Rhône wine is carried out in stainless steel tanks.

Blend

This 2022 white Côtes du Rhône from E. Guigal is a blend of viognier, roussanne, marsanne, clairette, bourboulenc and white grenache.
