Description
The vibrancy and balance of a Barolo wine
The estate
The history of the Elio Altare winery dates back to 1948, when Joseph Altare acquired 5 hectares of vineyards in La Morra, with the ambition of producing great wines from Piedmont.
Following a trip to Burgundy in 1976, Elio Altare, Joseph’s grandson, gradually ushered in a profound modernization of practices at the estate, both in winemaking and aging. A key figure in elevating the estate’s reputation beyond its borders, Elio Altare unveils wines that harmoniously combine elegance, finesse, and balance.
The vineyard
This Barolo from Elio Altare is a Piedmont wine produced from vineyards located in La Morra, Castiglione Falletto, Serralunga d'Alba, and Barolo. The vines, 20 to 30 years old and benefiting from south/southeast exposure, grow in a mosaic of soils.
Winemaking and aging
Skin maceration for approximately 4 to 5 days. Aged for 24 months in French barriques.
Blend
This 2021 Barolo from Elio Altare is 100% Nebbiolo.
