Description
Characteristics and tasting tips for the Rully Village 2023 by Jean-Charles Fagot
Tasting
Colour
The wine displays a pale, luminous straw-yellow hue.
Nose
The nose opens with indulgent aromas of ripe pear, apple and white flowers, subtly complemented by buttery notes and discreet oak that evokes brioche, with a light touch of vanilla.
Palate
Ample and slightly rich, the palate offers a creamy texture perfectly balanced by crisp acidity. It unfolds flavours of white fruit and sweet citrus, supported by a fine oaky framework, before stretching into a long, delicately saline finish.
Food and wine pairings
This white wine is an ideal match for rich, oily fish such as salmon, seafood in a creamy sauce or pasta dishes with cheese. It also pairs beautifully with traditional regional cuisine, such as chicken in cream sauce or white meats grilled over a wood fire, as well as hard cheeses like Comté.
Serving and cellaring
For optimal enjoyment, serve this Rully Village 2023 at a temperature of between 11 and 13°C. In its youth, it may benefit from a brief aeration of thirty minutes to an hour. This wine can be enjoyed now and will continue to develop gracefully until around 2030.
Other characteristics
The alcohol content of this cuvée is around 13%.
An aromatic, well-balanced white wine from Burgundy
The estate
Located in Corpeau, in the heart of Burgundy, the domaine was founded under its current name in 1989 by Jean-Charles Fagot, who remains its owner and manager to this day. Hailing from a family rooted in the village since 1860, this winemaker, whose career path has been far from conventional, is a former musician and also a restaurateur. He farms around 3 hectares of his own vines and supplements his production with a négociant business. The domaine stands out for its artisanal approach and a deeply gastronomic vision of wine, crafted to accompany the traditional regional cuisine served at his own family inn.
The vineyard
The grapes for this cuvée come from the Rully appellation, located in the northern part of the Côte Chalonnaise. The vines, with an average age of around thirty years, thrive on southeast-facing slopes with clay-limestone soils. The vineyard is managed according to the principles of sustainable viticulture, favouring targeted interventions to preserve the natural balance of the soils.
Vinification and ageing
Following manual harvesting and rigorous sorting, the grapes for this Rully Village 2023 are fermented in temperature-controlled vats using indigenous yeasts only. The wine is then aged for 12 to 14 months in French oak barrels, with a moderate proportion of new oak, allowing the aromas to integrate harmoniously.
Grape variety
This wine is made from 100% Chardonnay.
