Founded in 1890 on the initiative of 5 families, La Rioja Alta is a reference among La Rioja wines. Elegant, aromatic and balanced, the wines produced by La Rioja Alta are recognised for their complex and authentic expression of fine Spanish wines.
Vina Arana Gran Reserva 2014 by La Rioja Alta is a Rioja wine that stems from a selection of vineyards located in the villages of Las Cuevas, Rodezno and the Montecillo estate in Fuenmayor.
The particularly mild conditions at the beginning of the year favoured the vegetative development until veraison. Subsequently, the weather remained unstable until the harvest.
Vinification and ageing
The hand-picked grapes are cooled before vinification. Alcoholic and malolactic fermentation in steel vats. The wine is aged in fourth-fill American oak barrels for 3 years, with a traditional racking every six months. Final blending was completed in April 2018 prior to bottling in June 2018.
A bright, garnet-red colour.
Intense, the nose combines fruity fragrances (redcurrants, raspberries, wild blackberries, red plums) with delicious notes from the time spent in barrels (vanilla, cloves, coffee, caramel and brioche).
Lively and refreshing, the mouth seduces with its balance, fine tannins, complexity and elegance.
Food and wine pairing
This Rioja wine will pair with meats, stews, fish in sauce or chocolate-based desserts and red fruits.
