With an average age of 22 years, the vines are planted on gravel-clay soils. The 2016 harvest took place from September 25 to October 15. The wine is aged in barrels (30% in new barrels) for 17 months. The blend of the Marquis de Calon Ségur 2016 consists of 55% Merlot and 45% Cabernet Sauvignon.
At tasting, the Marquis de Calon Ségur 2016 develops a rich bouquet of jammy black fruit (blackberry) fragrances. On the palate, the wine is medium-bodied with a delicately firm structure that offers fine-grained tannins and a lovely freshness.
The tasting note is intended to describe the general profile of the wine at a given moment. Be aware that the wine can evolve in the bottle over time and express other organoleptic qualities.
