Decanter

Less massive than some years. Stays on the fruit. Slightly chewy finish. Firm tannic frame all the same.

Espresso and a touch of wood on the nose, which should integrate better with time. The wine offers juicy dark plums and spice from start to finish, ending with polished textures and ripe, sweet plums.

Weinwisser

Extremely dark purple with lilac and violet highlights. Intense cassis bouquet, mixed with Black Currant, licorice and ribwort plantain notes; on the second nose, Sichuan pepper and fine tobacco nuances. On the palate, dense, fleshy, compact, yet with rounded tannins; the finish is catapult-like, hurling the remaining aromas straight down the throat. Not for the faint-hearted and not for snobs either. More for geeks who look for a bit more power!

Extremely dark purple with lilac and violet reflections. Intensely cassis-scented bouquet, mixed with black currant, licorice and ribwort plantain notes; on the second nose, Sichuan pepper and fine tobacco nuances. On the palate, dense and fleshy, compact yet with rounded tannins; the finish is catapult-like, hurling the remaining aromas down the throat. Not for the faint-hearted, nor for snobs. But for those freaks who are into a bit more power!

(100% Merlot) Concentrated, velvety, subtly jammy bouquet, blackberry jelly, prunes, chocolate, slate, smoke, tobacco. Dense, full, creamy palate with powerful structure, plenty of fine tannins, robust dark aromatics, velvety fruit, very long, dense finish with extensive retronasal aromas. 18/20 2024 - 2040

Le Figaro Vin

A rich, full wine with firm acidity and a dry finish. It will need three years to find its balance thanks to its lovely density. 100% merlot.

Dark, intense and beautiful colour. Very fruity nose, ripe in style with notes of dried fruits. Dense palate, very fruity, finely mellow and tasty with a noble touch. The wine progresses with flavour towards a melting finish with very well-coated tannins. Good, smooth length.

Description

2014 Lalande de Pomerol pure Merlot from Bordeaux.

The Le Plus de La Fleur de Boüard is an iconic wine and the flagship of the property Chateau La Fleur de Board managed by Coralie de Boüard. From the oldest Merlot plots, planted on gravels, this wine quickly gained in depth and precision since its first release. This Lalande de Pomerol enjoys a special vinification tool (100% by gravity in trucated cone-shaped vats). Distinguished, the 2014 Le plus de La Fleur de Boüard gives off floral (intense violet, blue cedar balsamic notes, spices) and dark fruits fragrances with a good freshness and a kind of nervousness on the nose. The aeration reveals blackcurrant fragrances followed by a balsamic hint. The texture is fleshy. The palate is balanced and offers a frank attack with a good acidity until finish. The tannin is tight with a fine, quality grain. The structure is precise and forms a solid arch. This 2014 Lalande de Pomerol is full-bodied and serious. This pure Merlot was carefully and precisely vinified. It is a success.
