Over the years, Maison Chapoutier has developed its know-how in the vineyards of Alsace, Roussillon and Australia.

The vineyard

Bila-Haut V.I.T. 2021 by M. Chapoutier is a Roussillon wine that stems from vines planted on clay-limestone and schist soils.

The vintage

Despite mild temperatures, the winter was marked by some episodes of frost in January and February. The coolness that persisted until the end of spring gave way to a summer that was the coolest recorded in the last five years and without any heatwaves. These weather conditions led to a late ripening period. The grapes were harvested two weeks later than in 2020 and resulted in a tannic, fruity and mineral vintage.

M. Chapoutier’s Bila-Haut V.I.T. 2021: Characteristics and tasting tips

The tasting

The nose seduces with its perfect balance between the freshness, the tannic structure of the Syrah variety and the smoothness of the Grenache varietal.

The palate is long and persistent, with fruity (Morello cherry, red fruit) and spicy aromas, notes of garrigue scrubs and racy tannins.
