Wine Spectator

Alison Napjus

A sleek, finely knit and fragrant version, with wafts of medicinal herbs, ground anise and graphite. This red's racy acidity cuts a swathe through the generous range of chopped black cherry, damson plum preserves, black olive and mocha flavors. Muscular, well-sculpted tannins emerge on the finish, providing taut, fine-grained definition that carries minerally accents of tar and iron. Best from 2027 through 2039. 311 cases made, 18 cases imported.

Wine Enthusiast

Mike DeSimone

Deep red-violet to the eye, this wine has a bouquet of blackberry, coffee and chocolate. It is nothing short of gorgeous on the palate, offering plush tannins and dark berry flavors enlivened by notes of mocha, lavender and orange zest that wind down to a long-lasting finish. From a single vineyard in Ribera del Duero, it is an incredible example of Tempranillo at its finest. Drink through 2039.

Decanter

Perfumed, intense, with notes of violets. Blueberries, liquorice, and morello cherry with concentration and power. Ripe, polished tannins, lifted acidity, dark fruit and Mediterranean garrigue dominate the finish.

Zekun Shuai

Masses of oak spices, pine cones, cedar, vanilla and rich blackberries. Creamy and full-bodied, with juicy fruit and plenty of grainy tannins. Lots of vanilla in the finish, which extends the length of this chunky Ribera del Duero. Drink from 2025.
