Description
Characteristics and Tasting Tips for the Montrachet 2023 by Remoissenet Père et Fils
Tasting
Appearance
This white wine reveals a brilliant, luminous hue.
Nose
The aromatic bouquet opens with pronounced minerality and citrus notes such as lemon. It then evolves towards riper stone fruit aromas, enhanced by delicate spicy and creamy touches.
Palate
Ample and rich, the palate unfolds a generous volume marked by stone fruit. A mineral and saline thread brings beautiful tension, accompanied by a fine, structuring bitterness. The finish, remarkably long, stretches out with nuances of toasted fruit and honey.
Food and Wine Pairing
This great white wine pairs wonderfully with noble fish in a butter or lemon sauce, shellfish such as roast lobster, or scallops. It will also elevate a creamy chicken dish with mushrooms, as well as aged pressed cheeses such as Comté.
Serving and Cellaring
To fully enjoy this 2023 vintage, serve it between 12 and 14°C, ideally in a large glass. Light decanting for 30 to 45 minutes can help it open up in its youth. With great potential, this wine for laying down will reveal its full complexity over the years.
The Richness and Tension of a Burgundy Grand Cru by Remoissenet Père et Fils
The Estate
Founded in 1877 by Pierre-Alfred Remoissenet in the heart of Beaune, the house of Remoissenet Père et Fils is a historic figure of Burgundy. Acquired in 2005 by the American Edward L. Milstein, the current majority owner, the estate has undergone a major qualitative renewal. Now run by Bernard Repolt together with winemaker Claudie Jobard, it farms around forty hectares. This estate and négociant-éleveur stands out for its exceptional heritage of old vintages and its pursuit of precise wines, combining respect for terroir with sustainable viticulture.
The Vineyard
Coming from one of the most prestigious appellations of the Côte de Beaune, this Montrachet grows on perfectly drained clay-limestone soils. The vines enjoy an ideal exposure, allowing them to reach optimal ripeness while preserving beautiful mineral tension. The vineyard is managed according to the principles of sustainable viticulture, with low yields and an approach inspired by biodynamics.
Vinification and Ageing
Vinification receives meticulous attention in order to preserve the brilliance of the fruit. Ageing takes place exclusively in one-year-old oak barrels, a deliberate choice by the house to avoid the imprint of new wood. This method allows the oak to integrate harmoniously while highlighting the texture and purity of the wine.
Grape Variety
Chardonnay (100%).
