Description
Characteristics and tasting advice for the Rasteau "old vines" 2021 cuvée from Tardieu Laurent
Serving
For optimal tasting, decant the wine one hour before tasting it at a temperature of 14.5°C.
A delicate and expressive red wine from the Rhône Valley
The property
Passionate about wine and terroirs, Michel Tardieu created the Domaine Tardieu Laurent with his wife in 1996, which over the vintages has become an essential reference among the most beautiful wine labels from the Rhône Valley. For two generations, this family estate has magnified the terroirs of emblematic appellations (Châteauneuf-du-Pape, Condrieu, Hermitage, Vacqueyras, Saint-Joseph, Crozes-Hermitage ...) through aromatic and delicate wines resulting from rigorous vinification.
The vineyard
This Rasteau wine comes from a vineyard resting on a soil made up of clay-limestone hills and blue and yellow clays. The vines are on average 80 years old for the grenaches and 40 years old for the syrah and mourvèdre.
Vinification and aging
A third of the harvest is not destemmed. The initial aging of 10 months in barrels of one wine and two wines is followed by an additional aging of 10 months in a vat.
Blend
Grenache (70%), syrah (20%) and mourvèdre (10%).
