Tasting
Colour
The colour reveals a beautiful ruby-red hue, luminous and with a perfectly controlled depth.
Nose
The bouquet opens with great fruity purity, releasing exquisite aromas of raspberry accompanied by delicate floral touches.
Palate
Generous and engaging, the palate offers an elegant texture supported by firm yet perfectly integrated tannins. The body combines freshness and richness, with a hint of oak still perceptible on the finish that promises to blend harmoniously with time.
Food and Wine Pairing
This cuvée pairs wonderfully with fine charcuterie such as herb-cured dried pork tenderloin, or lightly cooked veal sprinkled with Parmesan shavings. It will also complement fine grilled red meats, such as lamb chops or duck breast, as well as hard cheeses.
Serving and Cellaring
For optimal enjoyment of this Bourgogne Hautes-Côtes de Nuits "Le Clos du Prieuré" 2023, it is recommended to serve it at a temperature of around 16°C, ideally in large glasses. In its youth, vigorous decanting for 15 to 30 minutes is advised. This wine can be enjoyed from 2026 or 2027, and will continue to evolve favourably until around 2037.
The Richness and Elegance of a Bourgogne Hautes-Côtes de Nuits Wine
The Estate
Heir to a long family tradition dating back to the 18th century, Thibault Liger-Belair founded the eponymous estate in 2001. Located in Nuits-Saint-Georges, in Burgundy (France), the estate is now run by Thibault Liger-Belair himself, who combines the roles of owner, winemaker and cellar master. A fervent advocate of respectful viticulture, he quickly converted his entire vineyard to organic farming, while also incorporating biodynamic practices. The estate stands out for its desire to showcase both prestigious grands crus and high-altitude terroirs, with a minimal-intervention approach.
The Vineyard
The vineyard from which this Burgundy wine originates is a 1.1-hectare walled plot located in the commune of Arcenant. Planted in 1986 at an altitude of 450 metres, these low-trained vines thrive on a very steep (40%) south-facing slope. This singular terroir, composed of white marls and limestone, benefits from optimal sunshine, allowing for advanced ripeness, which makes this clos the last plot harvested on the estate.
Winemaking and Ageing
To craft this Bourgogne Hautes-Côtes de Nuits "Le Clos du Prieuré" 2023, the grapes are harvested by hand. Vinification includes 50% whole clusters and is characterised by a fermentation of about three weeks with very gentle extraction, in order to preserve the finesse of the tannins. The wine is then aged for 18 months in oak barrels, with 30% new oak.
