A harmonious and elegant fine Italian wine by Antinori

The estate

Prunotto is located in an area that enjoys a long and rich winegrowing, cultural, historical and traditional history. The wines produced by this estate showcase the typical aromas of the grapes grown in these hills. The estate’s various vineyards are located in the best agricultural areas of Piedmont. Prunotto uses all the modern technology required to produce high quality Italian wines.

The vineyard

The estate’s 50 hectares of vines are located in Alba, between Barbaresco and Barolo. Prunotto is established on a beautiful, smooth and colourful area in the Langhe and Roero regions.

The vintage

The 2019 vintage begins with a winter that, with the exception of some snowfall and occasional rainfall, enjoys above average seasonal temperatures. This favoured the vine’s early growth, particularly in the most exposed vineyards. Spring was cold and marked by rainfall from April to the end of May, which reduced the number of grapes per bunch and thus limited production. June was hot and dry and was followed by rainfall in mid-July. The excellent temperature variations during August and the work carried out in the vineyard led to the preservation of the fruit. September is characterised by pleasant temperatures and clear weather, all of which lasted until mid-October. Although it was a difficult year, with a long harvest and limited production, the 2019 vintage produced grapes with an excellent quality.

Vinification and ageing

The selected grapes were destemmed and crushed. Maceration lasted about 8 days at a maximum temperature of 30°C. The wine was then aged for about a year in different-sized oak barrels.
