The authentic expression of a great Piedmont wine
The estate
Located in Piedmont, Italy, the Bruno Rocca estate was officially founded in 1978, marking the beginning of independent bottling by its eponymous founder. Today, the estate is jointly run by Bruno Rocca and his two children, Francesco and Luisa, who carry on the family legacy. Committed to nature-friendly viticulture, the house stands out for its determination to let the terroir express itself fully. Access to prestigious vineyard sites enables this estate to produce wines recognized worldwide for their excellence and authenticity.
The vineyard
The grapes destined for this Barbera d'Alba come from vines aged 50 to 60 years, located in the lower sections of the Currà and Fausoni plots. At an altitude of around 250 meters, these terroirs benefit from a warm climate and fertile soils composed of calcareous clay and grey and blue marl. The estate favors sustainable organic farming, promoting biodiversity through natural grass cover and the use of natural compost, without any synthetic products. The harvest is carried out entirely by hand.
The vintage
Initial assessments of this year highlight weather conditions that allowed for a good level of quality for this harvest.
Winemaking and aging
The making of the Barbera d'Alba 2024 begins with fermentations triggered by indigenous yeasts. The wine then ferments for two weeks in stainless steel tanks. Finally, it undergoes careful aging in French oak barrels to refine its structure.
Grape variety
Barbera (100%). An emblematic grape variety of the region, it lends this wine its deep color and characteristic vibrancy.
