Description
A silky and aromatic Santenay Premier Cru
The property
Founded in 1750, Chanson is one of the most famous houses in Burgundy. The estate is located in a bastion erected in the early 16th century as a watchtower with 8-meter thick walls, nicknamed "La Tour des Filles" and today dedicated to the ageing of the house's wines. Well known to lovers of great Burgundy wines, the Domaine Chanson presents exclusive vintages that brilliantly reveal the expression of the greatest wine-producing villages of the Côte de Beaune.
The vineyard
An important reference among Burgundy wines, the Chanson estate covers 45 hectares of vineyards located in the most beautiful appellations of the Côte de Beaune, exclusively in Premier and Grand Crus (Santenay, Chassagne-Montrachet, Puligny-Montrachet, Beaune, Savigny-Les-Beaune, Corton).
The wine
Domaine Chanson owns 3 hectares of this climat located in the heart of the Santenay Premier Crus, in the south of the Côte de Beaune. This Santenay Premier Cru "Beauregard" comes from a parcel located at the top of the hillside, whose stony and clayey-limestone soil gives the wine a beautiful minerality.
The vintage
Although 2019 began with a mild winter, the spring saw temperature variations and a significant rainfall, leading to a lot of millerandage. The scorching summer was punctuated by thunderstorms that restored the vineyard.
Winemaking and ageing
Fermentation in whole bunches. The wine is aged for 14 to 18 months in the 15th century Bastion with a moderate proportion of new barrels.
Blend
Pinot Noir (100%)
Tasting
Colour
The wine has a shining, beautiful ruby colour.
Nose
The nose blends fragrances of violet, ripe red berries (cherry) with delicious spicy and vanilla notes.
Palate
The palate is complex, with a delightfully silky feel, a deep texture and refined tannins. The lingering finish is generous and aromatic.
Food and wine pairing
This 2019 Santenay Premier Cru "Beauregard" from Domaine Chanson is an ideal accompaniment to mild cheeses, roasted meats and poultry in sauce.
