Château Clarisse "Vieilles Vignes" 2016

The 2016 Vieilles Vignes has a deep garnet-purple color and features an oak-dominant, cedary nose over a core of baked plums, red and black cherries and mulberries plus hints of dried herbs, raisin cake and spice box. Medium to full-bodied, it has a firm, chewy texture and a good core of baked black fruit flavors, finishing spicy.

Crushed plum, boysenberry and blackberry fruit flavors cruise through, streaked with a racy, chalky minerality and backed by a lingering tobacco note. Solid. Drink now through 2026. 917 cases made.

Deeply colored, the wine is full, richly flavored, supple in texture, and loaded with fresh, ripe, sweet, juicy fruits.

Inky dark purple colour. Fragrant and modern nose offering fine oak, ripe blackberry, cassis and violet. Polished and glossy palate with fresh dark fruit flavours, ripe tannin and a long, generous finish.

The 2016 Château Clarisse Vieille Vignes comes from a selection of older vines on the upper plateau and was brought up in 50% new French oak. Violets, blueberries, blackberries, and incense notes all emerge from this regal, medium-bodied, silky red that shows tons of character. With ripe tannins, it's already drinking nicely yet will keep for 7-8 years.

The 2016 is finally ready, expressing all the velvety charm of Clarisse’s fine old Merlots, delicately accented with floral notes over a plush fruit core. The wine is edged with flattering tannins that give it a clean, elegant style, lightly punctuated by woody notes on the finish

Silky from the outset, aromatic and delicious, the wine unfolds on the palate with a slender body that contrasts with the sometimes hefty profile of Puisseguin.
