Description

Characteristics and tasting tips for the Puligny-Montrachet Village “Cuvée Maizière” 2025 from Château de Marsannay

Tasting

Nose
The nose opens with notes of citrus, hazelnut and brioche, an aromatic signature that reflects the style the estate seeks for this cuvée.

Palate
The palate is round, generous and fruity, carried by a lovely saline freshness typical of the village of Puligny-Montrachet.

Food and wine pairings
This white wine pairs beautifully with seafood and shellfish, as well as white meats in creamy or mushroom sauces, such as poultry or veal. It also works well with more assertive dishes, such as delicately flavoured game or richly seasoned vegetable preparations.

Serving and cellaring
The Puligny-Montrachet Village “Cuvée Maizière” 2025 is best served at around 12-13°C to preserve its freshness and aromatic finesse. This wine has an official cellaring potential of 7 to 10 years, meaning it can be enjoyed until around 2032-2035.

A delicate, balanced Puligny-Montrachet Village from Château de Marsannay

The estate
The Château de Marsannay is a Burgundy estate located in Marsannay-la-Côte, on the doorstep of Dijon. It is now run by Olivier Halley, who has owned the estate since 2012. Château de Marsannay farms 40 hectares of vines organically, spread across the finest climats of the Marsannay appellation and plots exclusively managed for the Hospices de Dijon, in both the Côte de Nuits and the Côte de Beaune. Technical management is overseen by Sylvain Pabion, who joined the estate in 2015.

The vineyard
The Puligny-Montrachet Village “Cuvée Maizière” comes from a 57-are plot belonging to the Hospices de Dijon and exclusively managed by Château de Marsannay. Located at the foot of the slope, below the Premier Cru Les Marconnets, it enjoys an easterly exposure and sits on the brown clay-limestone soil characteristic of the Puligny-Montrachet appellation. Like the rest of the estate's vineyard, this plot is farmed organically, with a focus on soil conservation and the preservation of biodiversity.

Vinification and ageing
The Puligny-Montrachet Village “Cuvée Maizière” 2025 is currently ageing. After fermentation in stainless steel tanks, the wine is aged in oak barrels, a portion of them new, on the lees with bâtonnage, to add roundness and aromatic complexity while respecting the expression of the terroir. The ageing takes place in a temperature-controlled cellar, conducive to gradual, carefully controlled maturation.

Grape variety
This wine is made from 100% Chardonnay, the emblematic grape variety of the white wines of the Côte de Beaune.
