Description

A fine, balanced, and elegant Sauternes wine

The property

The Château de Myrat is a family estate established in the Sauternes appellation. The wines from this Grand Cru Classé of Sauternes are captivating for their balance, elegance, and refinement.

The vineyard

Château de Myrat is a Sauternes wine from a 22-hectare vineyard located in Haut-Barsac, a clay-limestone plateau on fractured limestone.

The vintage

The summer heat, followed by a beautiful late season marked by rains in early October, provided ideal conditions for the gradual development of noble rot.  The harvest took place from September 16 to October 29.

Vinification and aging

Manual harvest by 4 successive tries. Vinification by daily batches. The fermentation is carried out in barrels, as is the aging (40% new barrels) for 18 months.

Blend

Sémillon (88 %)
Sauvignon blanc (8 %)
Muscadelle (4 %)

Characteristics and tasting advice for Château de Myrat 2002

Tasting

Color
Beautiful bright golden yellow color.

Nose
The nose reveals a refined bouquet, blending delicate flowers, subtle spices, and seductive aromas of blond tobacco and cigar.

Palate
On the palate, the attack is ample and greedy, marked by flavors of yellow peach, candied pineapple, and fruit paste. The finish, generous and persistent, expresses notes of raspberry and red fruits. Of remarkable intensity, this Sauternes reveals a beautiful minerality that brings balance and distinction, in a typically Barsac style.

Food & wine pairings

Spicy tapas, prawns, foie-gras, curry chicken, braised veal chop, or even cheeses (roquefort, comté) and desserts (thin apple tart, mango mousse, fresh fruit salad) are perfect pairings with this Château de Myrat 2022.
