Product of quite the prodigious vintage for sweet wines, the Château Doisy-Védrines 2017 promises to be a great vintage indeed, already displaying the style of a Cru that is among the elite of Barsac.
A Grand Cru Classé by the official 1855 classification of Sauternes and Barsac wines, Château Doisy-Védrines manages a superb vineyard, planted on the clay-limestone ridge of Haut-Barsac, in the south-east of the Bordeaux.
Blessed with an exceptional terroir, the vines are cultivated with extreme care, favouring very low yields and selective sorting (in 3 to 4 passes for the 2017 vintage). All these elements come together to make the Château Doisy-Védrines an emblematic property for the sweet wines of Bordeaux.
The early harvest began on September 21st and ended on October 13th, requiring rigorous plot selection for a yield limited to 6hl / ha, due to frosts that occurred during two nights at the end of April.
Produced from this delicate vintage, the Château Doisy-Védrines 2017 is brilliant, revealing the expression of all the grape varieties making up the blend (95% of Sémillon, complemented by 5% of Sauvignon blanc and Muscadelle). The profile of this wine exudes the aromatic intensity of the fruit, with an ample mouth revealing a superb texture, in which the juicy fruit expresses itself in with a balance between sugar and acidity. The Château Doisy-Védrines 2017 reveals itself to be a sure value among the sweet wines of Sauternes.
