With a remarkable sanitary condition of the grape and grape-seed ripeness that had not been witnessed by the property since 2009 and 2010, the phenolic ripeness of the grapes is really good. The new Chateau La Dominique vat-room allows an even more gentle extraction for 2015. This result is noticeable on tasting. The harvest took place between September 18th and October 7th, starting with Merlot and finishing with the Cabernets. The 85% Merlot, 13% Cabernet Franc and 2% Cabernet Sauvignon give this vintage a fine tannic structure and a vibrant nose. It shows an inky-tinted red colour. The nose is pure with delicious freshness on elegant fragrances of smashed blackberry and scrumptious blueberry. This Saint-Emilion bears a woody hint, perfectly contained by the olfactory and gustatory texture. This wine carries slightly tight yet perfectly extracted tannins, as well as a great phenolic ripeness. The strength of this wine puts him in the category of powerful yet elegant Saint-Emilions. It is a well-produced wine.
Wine Advocate-Parker :
Composed of 85% Merlot, 13% Cabernet Franc and 2% Cabernet Sauvignon and aged for 16 months in 60% new and 40% one-year-old barrels, the deep garnet-purple colored 2015 La Dominique is earthy on the nose with notions of red and black currants, blueberry compote, spice cake and potpourri. Full-bodied, rich and opulent with beautiful purity, it's soft and seductive in the mouth, finishing long and perfumed, displaying wonderful energy.
