Description
An engaging Pomerol wine of concentration and precision
The estate
Founded in 1920 by Joseph and Hermine Dupuy, Château Le Bon Pasteur experienced a decisive turning point in 1978 when oenologist Michel Rolland and his spouse acquired the estate. Following this, they deeply modernized it by applying precision winemaking techniques that would become their signature. In 2013, the estate was sold to the Chinese group Goldin, marking the beginning of a new era focused on the international prominence of this cru known for its opulent and refined style.
The vineyard
Located in the heart of the Pomerol appellation, Château Le Bon Pasteur covers 5.20 hectares of vines planted on gravel-clay soils. The vines, averaging 40 years of age, are managed according to the principles of sustainable viticulture and benefit from the Haute Valeur Environnementale and ISO 14001 certifications.
Vinification and aging
The grapes are hand-harvested and undergo a double sorting before and after destemming. Vinification begins with a cold maceration lasting 5 to 7 days, followed by fermentation carried out 100% in 225-liter barrels. The aging continues for 12 months in oak barrels, 50 % of which are new, allowing the wine to develop its complexity while preserving its fruit.
Blend
This Château Le Bon Pasteur 2024 is the result of a Blend of 80 % Merlot and 20 % Cabernet Franc.
