Decanter

Cabernet aromas coming through on the nose with blackcurrant, cedar and chocolate. Smooth and velvety with a lovely supple expression that shows texture but also bounce thanks to the fruit and acidity. Great structure, lovely energy and focus here – nothing overdone. A light, crisp and crunchy style yet so delicate with a real focus on clarity. Feels really well constructed with an overall cool and fresh aspect. Lovely. I really like it. The Cabernet speaks strongly in the blend – great stuff, although blind it would be hard to place this immediately in Pomerol.

Flowers, mint, tobacco, licorice and plums fill the perfume. The palate is vibrant, almost crisp, and juicy, with a round, creamy finish dominated by black cherry, chocolate, plum, licorice, and mint. 13.4% ABV. Drink from 2029-2050. 92-94 Pts

Bright berry fruits, a lovely rich and fragrant grilled baking spice character on the aromatics, this weaves cumin, sandalwood, vanilla bean through the berry fruit. Great quality, with structure and ageing potential. Maxime Le Rumeur cellar master.

Yves Beck

For the third consecutive year, Cabernet Sauvignon makes up 6% of the grand vin. Intense notes of black berries and sweet spices are complemented by a chalky touch that can be likened to freshness. Dense on the attack, the wine shows powerful, precise tannins that provide both structure and energy. The result is a savory, vibrant, racy and persistent wine. A very fine success.

Dark, vivid, brilliant color. Intense, refined, fruity nose, subtle and highly perfumed. Develops a complex profile with swirling. On the palate, a marvel of delicacy and balance, with a silky texture, a melting body, and pronounced sapidity. Everything fits together meticulously, making it hard to spit out. A rare hedonism at Nenin. Blend: 62% Merlot, 32% Cabernet Franc, 6% Cabernet Sauvignon. Alcohol: 13.4% - pH: 3.6 - IPT: 79. Yield: 21 hl/ha.

Description

Characteristics and tasting notes of Château Nénin 2025

Tasting

Appearance
This wine reveals a deep garnet colour tending towards dark ruby, with a particularly dense and vibrant visual aspect.

Nose
The aromatic bouquet is intense and complex, releasing scents of black cherry, blackberry, blackcurrant and plum. Delicate floral notes reminiscent of violet intertwine with hints of liquorice, mint, cedar and tobacco, all underlined by chocolatey, spicy nuances and subtle mineral and earthy accents.

Palate
Both juicy and full of freshness, the attack reveals a medium to full body. The whole shines through its elegance, harmony and great aromatic precision. The tannins are fine, silky and supple, offering a beautiful structure without any heaviness. The finish stretches out at length, fragrant and perfectly balanced.

Food and wine pairings
This cuvée pairs wonderfully with noble red meats, such as a rack of lamb roasted with herbs or beef Wellington. It also goes very well with mushroom-based dishes, such as a porcini risotto, as well as cooked pressed cheeses such as an aged Comté.

Serving and cellaring
To fully appreciate this vintage, it is advisable to serve it at a temperature of between 17 and 18°C. Endowed with exceptional ageing potential, it can be kept in the cellar until around 2046-2056, with a taste peak expected after 10 to 15 years of cellaring.

The elegance and precision of a Pomerol wine

The estate
Created in the middle of the 18th century, Château Nénin is a historic estate in the Bordeaux region. This estate truly came into its own in the 19th century before marking a decisive turning point in 1997 when it was acquired by Jean-Hubert Delon, the current owner and manager.

The vineyard
Located on the southern slope of the famous Pomerol plateau, the estate extends over 32 hectares in a single block, of which 8 hectares are dedicated to the production of the grand vin. The vines, with an average age of 27 to 28 years, flourish on a mosaic of clay-gravel soils composed of quartz, granite, pebbles and iron dross. The harvest is carried out entirely by hand in order to preserve the integrity of the berries.

Vinification and ageing
Harvest from 2 September to 18 September. Alcohol content: 13.4% vol.

Grape varieties
62% Merlot, 32% Cabernet Franc, 6% Cabernet Sauvignon.
