A great wine from Saint-Émilion combining power and elegance
The Estate
Château Quintus, located on a promontory of Saint-Émilion in Bordeaux, was acquired by Domaine Clarence Dillon in 2011. Formerly Château Tertre Daugay, the estate stretches over 16 hectares of varied terroirs, enriched by the acquisition of Château L'Arrosée in 2013. Château Quintus is the fifth acquisition of the Domaine Clarence Dillon group, joining the prestigious Châteaux Haut-Brion and La Mission Haut-Brion. Its name is inspired by the Gallo-Roman tradition of naming the fifth child Quintus.
The Vineyard
The vineyard of Château Quintus benefits from an exceptional position on a limestone promontory of Saint-Émilion. This privileged location offers an ideal exposure and perfect natural drainage conditions for the vines.
The Vintage
The year 2024 was marked by a wet winter and spring, leading to strong pressure from downy mildew, perfectly controlled thanks to rigorous vineyard management. Cover cropping, parcel restructuring, and precise cultural practices preserved the vines’ sanitary condition. Homogeneous flowering and green harvesting led to a balanced ripeness of the grapes. A sunny week in mid-September refined the concentration and aromas.
Winemaking and aging
Aging is carried out in French oak barrels, 39 % of which are new oak.
Blend
77.2 % Merlot and 22.8 % Cabernet Franc.
