Vinum

Herbaceous and edgy, just as one has come to expect from him, with a pronounced character yet pleasantly fresh, dense, and harmonious. A safe bet.

Wine Spectator

James Molesworth

Fresh, with a mix of cherry and red currant fruit carried by some briar and savory notes on the relatively easy finish. This has lost a little depth since the barrel tasting. Drink now. 16,615 cases made.

Decanter

Dense colour, polished fruit and very good depth. Elegance and classic grip on the finish.

James Suckling

A firm and silky Sociando with cocoa and berry aromas and flavors. Medium to full body. Pretty texture. Chewy finish. Needs time to soften but outstanding for the vintage. Drink now.

Leve Jeff

Spice, leaf, herb and red fruit in character, this is a light, user-friendly style of Sociando Mallet that will drink well early. 86-88 pts

Weinwisser

Dark garnet, fairly dense at the core, ruby rim. Spicy, dark-berry bouquet with smoky nuances and Brazil tobacco; slender yet very aromatic. The palate follows suit, with ripe tannins, finishing again on tobacco and now blueberries. Well crafted and not over-extracted.

René Gabriel

Dark garnet, fairly dense in the middle, ruby rim. Spicy, dark-berry bouquet, smoky nuances, Brazil tobacco, slender yet very aromatic. And it continues exactly the same on the palate, the tannins show ripe, finishing again on tobacco and now, newly, blueberries. Well crafted and not over-extracted. (17/20). 15: Tasted at the Château from the stainless-steel tank. So it was no longer in barriques, but not yet in bottle. Filigreed bouquet, blackberries and violets on a very approachable nose. On the palate, few tannins, which somehow still call for further maturation. Honest and almost joyfully vinified. This one is ready right away!

André Kunz

Fine, opulent, fruity bouquet with blackberries, black cherries, tobacco, vanilla, and a hint of licorice. Classic, firm palate with good fruit, fine tannins, powerful, spicy aromatics, long finish. 17/20 2020 - 2034

The Wine Independent

Lisa Perrotti-Brown

The 2013 Sociando-Mallet has a medium garnet color, with a touch of brick. It begins with broody notions of tar, scorched earth, and dried herbs, leading to a core of prunes, fruitcake, and graphite, with a hint of leather. The medium-bodied palate delivers a good wallop of fruit with firm, rugged tannins and plenty of freshness, finishing chewy.

La RVF

The 2013 is rather soft and is developing quite quickly. In short, it should be drunk now.

Le Figaro Vin

A dense, tight wine with good substance, serious, slightly vegetal, but with lovely length. It will evolve well in the bottle.

Yves Beck

Garnet red with purplish highlights. A fruity, spicy bouquet with a pleasant hint of licorice. Lush, slightly creamy attack. On the palate, the wine is balanced and well supported by its tannins. It is fruity and very approachable. A wine to drink… now! Good glou-glou

Jean-Marc Quarin

Jean-Marc Quarin

Dark color of moderate intensity. Discreet nose. Fruity, caressing, pleasant palate, light and perfumed on the finish.

Description

A smooth red wine from the Haut-Médoc

With an area of 83 hectares, Château Sociando Mallet is a Haut-Médoc wine. The blend is 53% Merlot and 47% Cabernet Sauvignon.

At the tasting, there is a deep ruby and purple colour. On the nose, we can observe scents of blackcurrant and blueberry. The wine has touches of wet stones and smooth tannins on the palate. The Château Sociando Mallet 2013 is moderately structured with some concentration. However, it is well made and has no astringency or vegetal character.

This wine, which is often destined to have a good ageing potential, stands out for its softness and richness. This wine is therefore best to drink in its youth and to be consumed up until 2022.
