Description
The elegance and aromatic richness of a Saint-Émilion wine
The property
With origins dating back to the 18th century, Château Soutard takes its name from a very old locality on the only limestone plateau of Saint-Émilion. Château Soutard has been owned since 2006 by the insurance company AG2R LA MONDIALE.
The vineyard
Château Soutard watches over a 30 hectare vineyard, all in one piece, of which 21.14 hectares are in production. Aged 20 years on average, the vines are planted mainly on the clay-limestone plateau of Saint-Émilion as well as on clayey slopes and sandy foothills.
Vinification and ageing
Following the harvest, the grapes are kept in a cold room. Densimetric sorting is carried out before the fruit is transferred by gravity into thermoregulated wooden vats as well as double-walled tapered stainless steel vats. Ageing is carried out in French oak barrels (55% new barrels, 30% second-fill barrels) and 15% in casks.
The blend
The Château Soutard 2020 is made from a blend of Merlot (76%), Cabernet Franc (14%), Cabernet Sauvignon (6%) and Malbec (4%).
The tasting
The Château Soutard 2020 seduces with its aromatic richness, its elegance and its subtle blend of finesse and power.
