Description
Characteristics and Tasting Notes for the Domaine Cordier Père et Fils Mâcon-Milly-Lamartine "Clos du Four" 2024
Tasting
Appearance
The typical hue of this cuvée reveals a clear, bright yellow colour with subtle green highlights.
Nose
The bouquet reveals fine complexity, combining citrus and pear aromas with delicate white flower notes, all underscored by a flinty minerality.
Palate
Ample and full-bodied, the palate stands out for its pleasant lemony freshness. The remarkably long finish expresses a chalky minerality and beautiful tension.
Food and wine pairing
This white wine pairs beautifully with Burgundian specialities such as snails or frogs' legs. It also goes very well with grilled andouillette sausage as well as fish, whether grilled or served in sauce.
Serving and cellaring
Blessed with a fine acidic structure, this Mâcon-Milly-Lamartine "Clos du Four" 2024 has significant ageing potential, allowing it to develop favourably in the bottle for several years, generally estimated at between five and eight years for this cuvée.

The estate
Founded in 1945 and located in Fuissé, France, in the heart of southern Burgundy, this iconic family estate is now run by Christophe Cordier. A perfectionist and visionary winemaker, he oversees Domaine Cordier Père et Fils, which spans 31.5 hectares across nine villages. Renowned for his exacting standards, the producer has played a major role in establishing Mâconnais wines among the world's finest references. Meticulous work in the vineyards, combined with gravity-flow cellars and lengthy lees ageing, forges the unique identity of this house.
The vineyard
The climat from which this wine originates lies at an altitude of around 350 metres, within the Mâcon-Milly-Lamartine appellation. Covering 1.2 hectares, this east- and southeast-facing plot rests on poor, stony clay-limestone soils. The vines, around 70 years old, are cultivated with great rigour, using short Guyot pruning, severe bud thinning and yields limited to 40 hectolitres per hectare. Harvesting is done entirely by hand to preserve the integrity of the bunches.
Winemaking and ageing
The production of the Mâcon-Milly-Lamartine "Clos du Four" 2024 begins with gentle whole-cluster pressing. The juice is transferred by gravity, and fermentation starts naturally thanks to indigenous yeasts. The wine is aged entirely on its original lees, first for 12 months in new conical wooden vats with integrated bâtonnage, then for 6 months in oak foudres. The wine undergoes no fining and is only very lightly filtered before being bottled by gravity.
Grape variety
100% Chardonnay.
