Domaine de la Solitude 2022

Notes of fresh fruits, flowers and pear preface the 2022 Blanc from Domaine de la Solitude (Pessac-Léognan), a moderately weighted, tense and elegant, fresh and vibrant Pessac-Léognan with a mouthwatering finish.

Bright and fresh, showing unadorned star fruit and yellow plum notes liberally laced with verbena and honeysuckle. A nice zing of chalk pierces through and adds length on the finish. Sémillon and Sauvignon Blanc. Drink now through 2029. 1,000 cases made.

The 2022 Domaine de la Solitude Blanc is creamy and layered. Citrus confit, marzipan and exotic floral notes grace this wonderfully deep, expressive dry white. There’s terrific volume and overall presence here. Tasted two times.

Floral in nature, the nose shows green apples, vanilla, and orange rind. The juicy, citrusy palate is fresh and refreshing, with a nice display of yellow citrus on the creamy finish. The wine blends 70% Sauvignon Blanc and 30% Semillon. Drink from 2025–2030.

Plenty of ripe citrus, honeyed orange, and minty nuances emerge from the 2022 Domaine De La Solitude Blanc, a juicy, lively, beautifully pure white with medium-bodied richness and depth and terrific depth of fruit and intensity. Based on 70% Sauvignon Blanc and 30% Semillon, raised on one-third new oak, it’s perfect for drinking over the coming 4-6 years, if not upwards of a decade.

Good definition on the aromatics, white flowers and citrus; a little soft on the finish. This is good quality but lacks the lift of the best vintages, more easy-drinking, supple and juicy, charming and understated.

On the nose, aromas of aromatic herbs and dandelion, with great freshness. On the palate, it is pure and crystalline.

The bouquet of La Solitude reveals many facets linked to the maturation and the grape varieties present, with toasted nuances and, above all, citrus notes, namely grapefruit and limes. With good density, the wine combines freshness and breadth. It has character, a silky touch, salinity, and impressive length. The whole still needs to gain in harmony, but the foundations are laid for beautiful development over the years.

With a crisp white fruit and a rosewater aroma, the wine is young, tight with a strong mineral streak. Its fresh fruits need time to open out. Drink from 2027.
