Tasting notes
Colour
With a deep ruby red hue, this wine catches the light with elegance.
Nose
The aromatic bouquet opens with notes of black fruits such as black cherry and blackberry. It then reveals hints of spice, mineral nuances, as well as aromas evoking the forest floor.
Palate
The palate offers a lovely fruity depth, supported by well-integrated tannins that provide a solid structure. A moderate to high acidity brings a fine balance, leading to a persistent finish dominated by fruit and subtle earthy notes.
Food and wine pairing
This red wine pairs perfectly with roasted red meats, braised lamb or dishes in sauce such as beef bourguignon. It also goes wonderfully with game, dark poultry such as duck, mushroom dishes, as well as aged hard cheeses such as comté or gruyère.
Service and storage
With excellent aging potential, this Pommard Village "Les Petits Noizons" 2023 can be cellared and enjoyed until around 2033.
The authentic and structured expression of a great Pommard terroir
The estate
Created in 1999 by Nathalie and Jean-Charles Boisset, Domaine de la Vougeraie brings together the family's vineyard holdings at the heart of Burgundy. Located in Premeaux-Prissey, the estate spans 52 hectares across the Côte de Nuits and the Côte de Beaune. Now led by Sylvie Poillot, the domaine stands out for its deep commitment to organic and biodynamic viticulture. The teams work in harmony with lunar cycles to craft wines that precisely reflect the richness of their terroirs.
The vineyard
The "Les Petits Noizons" plot spans just over one hectare within the Pommard appellation. Located on a steep slope with excellent south and east exposure, the vines were replanted between 1985 and 1989. They thrive on deep, very stony and limestone soils enriched with silt. This unique terroir, cultivated at a density of 10,000 vines per hectare using Guyot pruning, encourages deep rooting and optimal grape ripening.
The vintage
The year 2023 began with a mild and dry winter, delaying budbreak until April and thereby avoiding any frost episodes. The growing season continued under warm temperatures, allowing for a quick and even flowering, accompanied by average rainfall. During harvest, an unexpected heatwave promoted exceptional berry concentration, resulting in a generous and high-quality yield.
Winemaking and aging
The grapes for this Pommard Village "Les Petits Noizons" 2023 are harvested by hand into small, well-ventilated crates. Winemaking incorporates a variable proportion of whole bunches and begins with a cold pre-fermentation maceration in wooden vats. Fermentation is carried out exclusively with indigenous yeasts, punctuated by regular punching down and pumping over. After gentle vertical pressing, the wine is aged for 12 to 18 months in oak barrels from the Cîteaux forest, about 20% of which are new. All operations, up to gravity bottling, are carried out in strict accordance with the lunar calendar.
Grape variety
Pinot Noir (100%).
