The Freshness and Complexity of a Great White Burgundy Wine
The Estate
Built in the eleventh century, the Domaine du Château de Meursault is a historic gem located in the heart of the Côte de Beaune, in Burgundy. Since its acquisition in 2012 by Olivier Halley, the estate has undergone a spectacular revival thanks to major investments and a constant pursuit of excellence. With a vineyard spread across more than 110 parcels, the estate stands out for the diversity of its terroirs and its environmental commitment, reflected in organic farming certification. This iconic producer today brilliantly combines centuries-old traditions with technical innovation.
The Vineyard
The cuvée comes from a privileged 7.5-hectare parcel, ideally located on flat ground within the estate's own park in Burgundy. East-facing, the vines benefit from ideal morning sunlight. They thrive on gravelly clay-limestone soil, offering excellent drainage and optimal thermal regulation, giving the grapes a distinctive minerality.
Winemaking and Aging
After hand-harvesting and rigorous sorting, the grapes destined for the Bourgogne "Clos du Château" 2024 are pressed and then settled. Alcoholic fermentation takes place in oak barrels for around ten days. The wine is then aged for twelve months in barrels (25% new oak), with regular lees stirring every fortnight during the first half of this period to enrich its texture and complexity.
Grape Variety
100% Chardonnay.
