Bettane+Desseauve

More powerful than the standard of Les Maréchaudes thanks to this complete vintage. It finishes delicate, earthy, racy and refined, with notes of sweet licorice and blackberry.

The nose is elegant and offers power with finesse, intensity with subtlety, depth, and a lovely fine grain. It reveals notes of pulpy cherry, fresh/ripe strawberry, and, more delicately, blackcurrant, combined with touches of violet and pulpy redcurrant, a fine hint of small purple plum, grey pepper, and flashes of racy minerality, a sense of place, as well as a subtle hint of spices, a very discreet touch of vanilla, and an imperceptible hint of cumin. The palate is fruity, elegant, suave, delicate, and precise, offering flesh, refined roundness, subtlety, lovely definition, a tangy backbone, a certain tension/straightness, aromatic purity, and a lovely fine grain (a powerful grain). On the palate, this wine expresses notes of bright strawberry, crushed cherry, and, more slightly, bright blackcurrant, combined with touches of small fresh/juicy plum, violet, lilac, flashes of racy minerality, cardamom, blond tobacco, grey pepper, as well as fine hints of toasted almond and a sense of place / bay laurel berries. The tannins are precise, elegant, racy, and offer delicacy within their power. Attractive sapidity on the finish/persistence. Presence of a touch of pleasant bitterness and cocoa / toastiness on the finish.

A broad, muscular red, revealing cherry, raspberry, earth and spice flavors. Packs an underlying vegetal element that adds detail, as the solid structure exerts itself on the finish. The balance tips to the tannic side now, yet this shows fine balance, so be patient. Best from 2026 through 2045.
