Description

Characteristics and Tasting Notes for the Meursault Village "Clos des Grands Charrons" Monopole 2023 Domaine du Château de Meursault

Tasting

Colour
This white wine from France reveals itself with beautiful visual finesse.

Nose
Open and expressive, the bouquet first reveals pronounced floral notes. With aeration, the aromatic profile evolves towards riper fruit scents, offering a lovely complexity that reflects its terroir and time spent in barrel.

Palate
The palate stands out for its precision and elegance, offering a rich and concentrated texture without any heaviness. Subtle touches of butter and beeswax bring a delicate aromatic complexity. The balance between this generosity and a refreshing natural acidity is perfect. The minerality typical of limestone soils fully expresses itself, leading to a long, saline finish that lingers on the palate.

Food and Wine Pairing

This wine pairs wonderfully with fresh truffle pasta dishes, where its minerality and oaky notes enhance the aromas of this mushroom. It also pairs perfectly with white fish in sauce, such as pike-perch with beurre blanc, as well as roasted or creamed poultry, such as Bresse chicken.

Service and Storage

To fully appreciate the complexity of the Meursault Village "Clos des Grands Charrons" Monopole 2023, it is recommended to serve it at a temperature between 12 and 14 °C. This wine offers an ageing potential of seven to ten years after its harvest year, allowing it to be enjoyed until approximately 2033.

The Pure and Mineral Expression of a Meursault Wine

The Estate

Nestled in the heart of the Côte de Beaune in Burgundy, the Domaine du Château de Meursault oversees a 65-hectare vineyard. While the estate's origins date back to the eleventh century under the impetus of Robert I, Duke of Burgundy, it has passed through the ages, moving from noble hands to those of merchants. Since late 2012, the Halley family has been the current owner of this viticultural gem. They bring a dynamic modernisation to the estate, while strongly committing to certified organic viticulture to enhance the expression of its terroirs.

The Vineyard

The plot from which this wine originates spans 85 ares in a single block within the Meursault appellation. This monopole, the exclusive property of the estate, is located on the middle and upper parts of the slope. Facing east-southeast, the vines benefit from ideal sunshine exposure while avoiding excessive heat. They thrive on hard, well-drained soils composed of Jurassic limestone and marl, which naturally limit the vigour of the vines and give the grapes a lovely concentration.

Winemaking and Aging

After manual harvesting and sorting, the grapes are pressed and the must is then racked. The alcoholic fermentation of the Meursault Village "Clos des Grands Charrons" Monopole 2023 takes place in oak barrels for ten to fifteen days. Ageing continues on fine lees for fifteen to eighteen months in oak barrels, 35% of which are new, with the remainder one to two years old. During the first six months, regular bâtonnage (lees stirring) is carried out every two weeks to enrich the structure.
