Description

Characteristics and tasting notes of Le Montrachet Grand Cru 2022 Domaine Guy Amiot et Fils

Tasting

Colour
With a golden hue ranging from pale to medium, this wine reveals emerald green nuances in its youth.

Nose
The nose reveals a complex bouquet blending citrus aromas (mandarin, lemon zest) with stone fruits such as white peach and pear. These are joined by floral notes of honeysuckle, a mineral touch of gunflint, as well as subtle nuances of butter, vanilla and toasted hazelnut.

Palate
On the palate, this white wine stands out for its fullness and unctuous texture, supported by precise acidity. The palate unfolds flavours of apricot, lemon and honey, enhanced by a chalky, mineral framework. The finish is remarkably persistent, lingering on saline notes.

Food and wine pairing

This wine pairs ideally with poultry in cream sauce and mushrooms, such as morels. It also pairs wonderfully with seafood and shellfish, such as lobster or scallops, as well as aged cheeses like Comté.

Service and storage

With remarkable ageing potential, this Le Montrachet Grand Cru 2022 can be cellared and enjoyed until around 2047.

The elegance and mineral precision of a white wine from the Le Montrachet appellation

The estate

Founded in 1920 by Arsène Amiot, Domaine Guy Amiot et Fils is a historic figure in Burgundy, France. Located in Chassagne-Montrachet, the estate oversees a vineyard of approximately 10 hectares. Today, the fourth generation, represented by brothers Thierry and Fabrice Amiot, runs the estate. They are now joined by Héloïse Amiot, who represents the next generation. A pioneer of estate bottling, the domaine stands out for its approach combining respect for family tradition with precision viticulture.

The vineyard

The plot dedicated to Le Montrachet Grand Cru covers a confidential area of just 0.091 hectares. Benefiting from an ideal south-facing exposure, these vines, around 90 years old, thrive on soils composed of clay and limestone, with a stony subsoil. The estate practises sustainable farming, including soil work, bud thinning, and meticulous trellising to preserve the health of the vines.

The vintage

Following a previous year marked by devastating frost episodes, the 2022 growing season proved particularly generous. Despite hot and dry weather conditions, the vines drew on their resources to produce qualitative yields, achieving an optimal balance between fruit ripeness and freshness.

Winemaking and ageing

The making of Le Montrachet Grand Cru 2022 follows a philosophy combining tradition and modernity. The methods employed aim to preserve the tension and mineral definition of the terroir, resulting in a silky texture supported by precise acidity.
