The elegance and structure of a great red Burgundy
The estate
Founded in 1803 in Pommard, Domaine Parent is a historic figure of Burgundy. The family's winemaking history dates back to the 17th century, illustrated by prestigious ancestors who notably supplied Thomas Jefferson. Today, this estate in the Côte de Beaune is run by Anne Parent and Catherine Fages-Parent, who represent the twelfth generation. They have recently been joined by Constance Fages-Parent, marking the arrival of the thirteenth generation. Committed to sustainable viticulture, the estate stands out for its constant pursuit of precision, balance and transparency across its various cuvées.
The vineyard
The vineyard spans around ten hectares in the heart of the Côte de Beaune, with a strong specialisation in the terroirs of Pommard. The vines, around 45 years old, are cultivated according to the principles of organic and biodynamic farming. The estate favours massale selection for its plantings and carries out meticulous soil work, sometimes using horses on the most prestigious plots. The harvest is carried out by hand, followed by an extremely rigorous sorting process.
Winemaking and ageing
The making of the Pommard Village 2024 relies on controlled extraction aimed at preserving the finesse of the tannins and the elegance of the structure. The grapes undergo careful sorting in the vineyard and then in the cellar. The ageing process is then carried out with care to enhance the expression of the terroir while retaining great aromatic precision.
