E.Guigal Vignes de l'Hospice is a treasure of the producer of Saint-Joseph. The 2011 vintage spent 30 months in barrels and was entirely made from a Syrah vineyard of 80 years of age. This dark red 2011 Vignes de l'Hospice releases a complex nose dominated by black fruit and delicate aromas of vanilla, pepper and violet. On the palate, the attack is powerful, the tannins are present but fine with an elegant and persistent finish.
Wine Advocate-Parker :
Bottled in February of this year, the 2011 Saint Joseph Vignes des Hospices is one sexy, seamless and silky Syrah that readers shouldn't miss. Perfumed and complex, with a sweet bouquet of cassis, licorice, spice-box and pepper, it has a medium to full-bodied, forward style that's perfect for drinking over the coming decade or more.
