With plot selection in the Ermitage appellation, the Ermitage "Les Dionnières" of Ferraton Père & Fils is a red wine made with Syrah. Around 35 years old, the vines are planted on clay and limestone soils with rounded pebbles on the surface. The wine is aged for 14 to 18 months on average in oak barrels, with a proportion of 20 to 30% new barrels.
With a magnificent and brilliant, deep ruby colour, l'Ermitage "Les Dionnières" 2016 de Ferraton Père & Fils reveals a complex nose, developing aromas of violets, red berries, spices and liquorice. Powerful on the palate, the wine reveals in the extension of the nose tasty touches of red berries and liquorice. A truly elegant wine with a very long finish.
The main purpose of this commentary is to describe the general profile of the wine presented. It is therefore called into question with the natural evolution of various characteristics of the wine over time.
Smoky and cedary up front, the 2016 Ermitage Les Dionnières is already drinkable. Cola and black olive notes give this medium to full-bodied wine a decidedly savory look, but it finishes velvety and long.
