Robert Parker

William Kelley

Offering up aromas of white peach, apple blossom and freshly baked bread, the 2022 Puligny-Montrachet Village is medium-bodied, ample and satiny, with lively acids and a pretty, fine-boned profile.

Wine Spectator

Bruce Sanderson

A juicy style, bursting with peach, apple, lemon and light vanilla flavors. Though racy, this is also dense and defined as it builds to the long, lemony finish. Drink now through 2027. 750 cases imported.

James Suckling

Jim Gordon

Very polished, elegant and subtly fruity, with mineral and toast accents that grow on the palate and linger in the finish. Light to medium in body, with a bit of grip from acidity in the texture. Drinkable now, but best from 2027.

Wine Enthusiast

A.C.C.

A generous nose of green pear, white peach, and grapefruit pith is gently wrapped in delicate layer of melted salted butter and vanilla extract. The palate is round yet energized by pronounced acidity, unveiling long layers of soft orchard fruit, fresh almonds, and a salted brown butter finish. Elegant and textured, this wine should age well through 2032.

A Burgundy Chardonnay of remarkable elegance by Joseph Drouhin

The estate

Founded in 1880 in Beaune by Joseph Drouhin, this family-owned Burgundian house now spans two continents with its vineyards in Burgundy and its Oregon estate established in 1987. Véronique Boss-Drouhin, of the fourth generation, contributes to the management of this estate renowned for its biodynamic practices adopted as early as the 1980s. The Joseph Drouhin estate cultivates approximately 100 hectares in Burgundy and stands out for its historical heritage linked to the Resistance and the Hospices de Beaune, combining Burgundian tradition with international innovation.

The vineyard

This Puligny-Montrachet comes from the central part of the Côte de Beaune, in the prestigious Côte des Blancs. The vines flourish on limestone soils composed of a mix of ochre earth and small stones. This appellation takes its name from Pullius, of Roman origin, and added "Montrachet" to its designation in 1879.

Winemaking and aging

The grapes and musts come from partner growers selected according to a strict specification. Hand harvesting is carried out in ventilated crates with meticulous sorting when necessary. Slow pressing of whole clusters in a pneumatic press allows the free-run juice to be separated from the press wine. Alcoholic and malolactic fermentations take place in oak barrels with 20% new wood. The aging lasts 14 to 16 months in fine French oak.
