The authentic expression of a great white wine from the Mâconnais by Maison Joseph Drouhin

The estate

Founded in 1880 in Beaune, at the heart of Burgundy, Maison Joseph Drouhin is a true wine institution. Initially a négociant house, it developed into an essential estate, pioneering organic and biodynamic viticulture as early as the 1980s. Today, the fourth generation oversees this legacy, with Frédéric Drouhin as president and Véronique Drouhin-Boss as head of winemaking. With an extensive vineyard, Joseph Drouhin is committed to producing wines that express the authenticity of each terroir with absolute purity.

The vineyard

Located in the south of the region, the Mâcon-Bussières terroir thrives on the slopes of the Mont du Mâconnais, at an altitude ranging between 250 and 350 metres. The vines benefit from a unique Jurassic geology, made up of clay-limestone soils and stony ground. This transitional zone offers ideal conditions for grape growing, resulting in grapes of exceptional quality.

The vintage

The year 2023 stood out for its particularly high temperatures, even surpassing the heat of the previous year. These exceptional climatic conditions allowed the berries to reach perfect ripeness at harvest, providing an ideal growing cycle to bring out the best in the terroir.

Winemaking and aging

After gentle pneumatic pressing and settling, the musts begin fermentation. This takes place two-thirds in stainless steel tanks and one-third in 500-litre oak barrels. The mixed aging process then continues for 6 to 10 months. Each stage is carefully guided by regular tastings to preserve the identity of the fruit.

Grape variety

Chardonnay (100%).
