A structured and richly fruity Beaune 1er Cru

The estate

Officially founded in 1859, the Louis Jadot House is a true institution in Burgundy. Located in the heart of Beaune, it draws on family winegrowing roots dating back to 1826. Today led by Thomas Seiter and owned by the American Kopf family, this historic house combines the activities of an estate and a négociant. It watches over a vast vineyard of around 270 hectares spread between Burgundy and Beaujolais. Renowned worldwide, it stands out for its environmental commitment and its dedication to preserving the authentic expression of each terroir.

The vineyard

The Beaune 1er Cru "Clos des Couchereaux" comes from a parcel ideally located in the centre of the commune of Beaune, on the upper part of the slope. This terroir benefits from an excellent full southern exposure, ensuring optimal sunshine for grape ripening. The vines flourish on a well-drained clay-limestone soil that has the particularity of warming up quickly. Since 2019, all of the estate's land has been certified High Environmental Value (HVE) level 3, reflecting a respectful approach to viticulture.

Winemaking and ageing

To craft this 2019 vintage, the grape bunches are entirely destemmed before undergoing a long maceration of approximately four weeks in open vats. This method allows for optimal extraction of colour and tannins. The wine then benefits from careful ageing in oak barrels for 18 months, providing complexity and stability.
