Description
Characteristics and tasting notes of the Corton-Charlemagne Grand Cru "Héritiers Louis Jadot" 2024
Tasting notes
Appearance
This white wine reveals a brilliant pale gold colour, enhanced by delicate yellow-green highlights.
Nose
The aromatic bouquet is particularly expressive, releasing scents of nectarine and white peach. Subtle notes of yellow flowers and lime intermingle, underpinned by an underlying minerality.
Palate
On the palate, this wine offers a medium-bodied structure with a slightly honeyed texture. The balance is precise between richness, power and a lively acidity that brings great freshness. The saline and complex finish promises a fine evolution.
Food and wine pairing
This great white wine pairs wonderfully with foie gras, whose richness will be balanced by the wine's tension. It also complements noble shellfish such as lobster or crab, poultry and veal dishes in white sauce, as well as characterful blue-veined cheeses or grilled fish.
Serving and cellaring
For optimal tasting, it is recommended to serve this wine at a temperature between 12 and 14°C. Crafted for a very long evolution, this Corton-Charlemagne Grand Cru "Héritiers Louis Jadot" 2024 requires at least ten to fifteen years of patience to reveal its full potential, and can be cellared until around 2064.
The power and minerality of a great white Burgundy wine
The estate
Founded in 1859 by Louis Henry Denis Jadot, Maison Louis Jadot is a true institution in Burgundy. Although the family's winemaking history began in 1826, it was the creation of the trading house that established its reputation. Today, the estate oversees a vast vineyard stretching over more than 140 hectares across the region. Owned by the Kopf family since 1985, the house is currently led by Thomas Seiter. Committed to an environmentally respectful approach, the estate has recently obtained organic certification for part of its holdings.
The vineyard
The grapes come from the prestigious hill of Aloxe-Corton, on the border between the Côte de Nuits and the Côte de Beaune. The estate owns 1.88 hectares within the Les Pougets climat of the Corton-Charlemagne appellation. Facing south-west, at an altitude ranging from 280 to 330 metres, the vines flourish on chalky marl soils very rich in limestone, with a thin layer of topsoil on the surface.
The vintage
After several years marked by climatic hazards, 2024 signals a return to more typical yields. The growing season benefited from very favourable weather conditions, allowing the berries to reach optimal ripeness while retaining fine levels of acidity.
Vinification and ageing
The house's philosophy is based on minimal intervention in order to let the terroir express itself. For this Corton-Charlemagne Grand Cru "Héritiers Louis Jadot" 2024, the harvest is received in a new temperature-controlled cold room to preserve the freshness of the berries. Ageing takes place using larger-sized containers, in addition to the traditional 228-litre Burgundy barrels, with the aim of limiting the impact of wood on the wine's aromatic profile.
Grape variety
100% Chardonnay.
