Description

Characteristics and tasting notes of the Montagny 1er Cru "Les Chaniots" 2024 Louis Jadot

Tasting

Colour
Limpid, the colour reveals a hue ranging from pale yellow to pale gold.

Nose
The bouquet opens with aromas of white fruit, such as apple and pear, mingled with citrus and floral notes. Over time, it reveals subtle touches of honey and dried fruit such as hazelnut.

Palate
Full-bodied and elegant, the palate offers a lovely structure supported by a slightly unctuous texture. Balance is provided by well-judged acidity, leading into a long finish marked by notes of ripe fruit and a fine minerality.

Food and wine pairing

This white wine pairs wonderfully with caramelised prawns, grilled white fish or white meats such as roast poultry or veal. It also goes perfectly with goat's cheese as well as pressed cooked cheeses such as aged Comté.

Service and storage

For optimal tasting, this wine should be served at a temperature between 11 and 13°C. It can be enjoyed in its youth but also has the ageing potential to develop in the cellar until around 2032.

The elegance and richness of a Montagny Premier Cru

The estate

Founded in 1859 in Beaune, the Maison Louis Jadot is a true institution in Burgundy. Both a wine estate and a merchant house, it oversees a vast vineyard spanning some of the finest terroirs in the region. Now owned by the Kopf family, with Thomas Seiter at the helm as CEO, the house continues to uphold a philosophy centred on respecting the identity of each Climat. Renowned worldwide for the consistency and quality of its cuvées, Louis Jadot perfectly embodies Burgundian excellence through wines that remain true to their origins.

The vineyard

Located in the Côte Chalonnaise, the Climat "Les Chaniots" is a Premier Cru of the Montagny appellation. The vines lie on a hillside overlooking the villages of Jully-lès-Buxy and Saint-Vallerin, benefiting from ideal east and south-east exposure. This terroir stands out for its shallow, stony black soils, resting on a friable clay-limestone subsoil. These natural conditions encourage deep rooting and give the grapes remarkable concentration along with a characteristic minerality.

Winemaking and aging

True to the house style, winemaking here prioritises the expression of the terroir. After rigorous sorting, the berries are fermented in oak barrels. The wine is then aged on fine lees for around twelve months, with moderate use of new oak to preserve the fruit's freshness and aromatic purity.
