A Chambertin Grand Cru in the heart of the Côte de Nuits, heir to the Louis Latour House
The Estate
The Louis Latour House, founded in 1797 by Jean Latour, from a winegrowing family established since 1731, remains an independent family-owned company. Based in Aloxe-Corton in the Côte-d'Or, it owns around 50 hectares of vineyards, including nearly 28 hectares classified as Grands Crus, making it the largest estate in this category in Burgundy. A pioneer in planting Chardonnay in Corton-Charlemagne after the phylloxera crisis, the House combines the roles of estate owner-winemaker and négociant.
The Vineyard
Chambertin lies at the heart of the Grands Crus of the Côte de Nuits, in the village of Gevrey-Chambertin. The parcel, acquired by the Latour family at the end of the 19th century and passed down as a heritage, stretches as a single continuous block from the upper to the lower part of the slope, closer to Latricières than to Clos de Bèze. The exceptional terroir is shaped by an alluvial fan phenomenon. The subsoil rests on a clay base from the Bajocien, while the top layer is composed of chalky limestone mixed with gravel and clay, forming brown limestone soils. Hand-harvesting makes it possible to pick grapes of optimal quality.
Vinification and Aging
Chambertin Grand Cru "Cuvée Héritiers Latour" 2023 is vinified in the traditional way in open vats, with full malolactic fermentation. Aging takes place for 10 to 12 months in 100% new French oak barrels, from the Louis Latour cooperage, with a medium toast level.
Grape Variety
This Grand Cru from Burgogne is produced exclusively from Pinot Noir.
