The estate
Rooted since 1808 in Tain-L'Hermitage, Maison M. Chapoutier has established itself as a leading reference for wines from the Rhône. Michel Chapoutier, a visionary winemaker and merchant, propelled this family business to the pinnacle of international recognition. Holding the world record for 100/100 scores awarded by Robert Parker, he has forged a reputation for excellence. His daughter Mathilde now upholds this legacy, overseeing an exceptional vineyard of over 350 hectares across the most prestigious appellations.
The vineyard
The Cuvée Chante-Alouette draws its uniqueness from three complementary terroirs, "Le Méal", "Les Murets" and Ermite. This vin d'Hermitage owes its distinctiveness to its mosaic of original soils, composed of fluvio-glacial alluvium, red clays and loess.
Winemaking and aging
Hand harvesting in multiple passes. Pressing followed by light settling. Fermentation with indigenous yeasts mainly in demi-muids and foudres (80%, including 10% new) and in stainless steel tanks (20%). Aging on full lees for 10 months is accompanied by bâtonnage.
Grape variety
100% Marsanne.
