The richness and structure of a great Barolo wine

The property

Founded in the early 19th century by the Falletti family, Marchesi di Barolo is a pillar of Piedmontese wine, located in the Langhe region. Today led by Anna and Ernesto Abbona, with their children Valentina and Davide, the estate extends over 120 hectares, including prestigious vineyards such as Cannubi and La Morra. Known for its Barolo, the house combines tradition and innovation, using ancestral winemaking methods and sustainable practices.

The vineyard

This wine is made exclusively from vineyards located in the municipality of Barolo. The soils, particularly rich in clay and limestone, are locally called "White Earth". This geological composition gives the wine a powerful structure and an abundance of tannins, guaranteeing its remarkable aging potential and its distinctive character.

The vintage

The 1985 vintage is characterized by average temperatures and rainfall during the summer, followed by a particularly mild and dry September and October. These climatic conditions allowed for perfect maturation of the grapes, offering berries of exceptional quality.

Vinification and aging

The grapes were hand-harvested, then delicately destemmed and gently pressed. Fermentation occurred spontaneously at a controlled temperature between 30 and 32°C. After fermentation, without prolonged maceration, the wine underwent malolactic fermentation during the winter before being transferred to barrels. The aging took place in large barrels according to the traditional method, before bottling in 1989.
