The Pure and Mineral Expression of a Burgundy Wine by Olivier Leflaive

The Estate

Founded in 1984 by Olivier Leflaive, the eponymous house is a key figure in Burgundy, located in the heart of Puligny-Montrachet. Born from a bold entrepreneurial vision, the estate today combines family heritage with modernity. The estate is currently led by Jean Soubeyrand, Chairman of the Management Board, alongside Julie Leflaive and technical director Solène Panigai. Certified for its environmental practices, the estate stands out for its terroir-respectful approach, producing wines celebrated around the world for their precision and elegance.

The Vineyard

This wine comes from the prestigious Montrachet terroir, a vineyard set on well-drained marl-limestone soils. The vines, with an average age of over 50 years, benefit from viticulture certified for its high environmental value. Soil work is carried out mechanically, without chemical herbicides, and the grapes are harvested entirely by hand to preserve the integrity of the clusters and ensure optimal quality.

The Vintage

2024 was marked by major climatic challenges, with record rainfall and high humidity increasing disease pressure. However, plots benefiting from excellent drainage were able to withstand these extreme conditions. Despite reduced yields, concentrated berry ripening and swift harvesting resulted in a crop of remarkable freshness and brilliance.

Winemaking and Aging

As soon as they arrive at the winery, the grapes for the Montrachet Grand Cru 2024 undergo gentle pneumatic pressing, followed by 24 hours of static settling. Alcoholic and malolactic fermentation take place in French oak barrels. The wine is then aged for 18 months, including six months of bulk blending, in oak barrels (25% of which are new), allowing the wine to develop its full complexity without masking the expression of its terroir.

Grape Variety

100% Chardonnay.
