Tasting
Appearance
This wine reveals a pale gold hue, enhanced by delicate green highlights, offering a limpid and particularly bright appearance.
Nose
Elegant and complex, the bouquet unveils superb aromas of white-fleshed fruits and citrus. Subtle notes of white flowers intertwine with beautiful minerality and light toasted touches.
Palate
The palate is captivating in its precision and remarkable freshness. Endowed with a dense and powerful substance, the mouth offers striking tension that extends towards a long, saline finish, reflecting a perfect balance between complexity and minerality.
Food and wine pairings
This great white wine will pair wonderfully with noble fish such as roasted turbot, seafood or poultry in sauce. It will also be an ideal match for a creamy mushroom risotto, pan-seared foie gras or aged cheeses such as a mature Comté.
Serving and cellaring
For an optimal tasting experience of this Chassagne-Montrachet 1er Cru "Les Grandes Ruchottes" 2022, it is recommended to serve it at a temperature between 12 and 14°C. Decanting for thirty minutes to an hour is advised for the magnum format. This wine, built for long ageing, can be enjoyed after a few years in the cellar and will evolve beautifully until around 2042.
The power and precision of a great white Burgundy
The estate
Representing the thirteenth generation of his family, Pierre-Vincent Girardin founded his own estate in 2016, at the age of eighteen, drawing on historic vineyards passed down by his father. Based in Meursault, in the heart of Burgundy, the estate today extends over approximately 6.5 hectares on the Côte de Beaune, complemented by top-tier sourced grapes. Regarded as one of the rising stars of the region, Pierre Girardin stands out for his low-intervention approach and ultra-modern winery, giving rise to wines of remarkable purity and precision.
The vineyard
This wine hails from the prestigious Premier Cru classified climat "Les Grandes Ruchottes", located on the heights of the village of Chassagne-Montrachet. Perched on steep slopes with a south to south-east exposure, this terroir is characterised by thin, very stony soils, dominated by Bathonian limestone and clay. The vineyard is managed according to environmentally friendly methods, close to organic farming, with regular ploughing and a complete absence of chemical weedkillers or pesticides.
The vintage
The 2022 year was marked by warm and sunny weather conditions, encouraging excellent ripeness of the berries. Thanks to the altitude and the topography of the steep-slope plots, the vines were able to preserve a lovely natural freshness, delivering juices that combine generous concentration with vibrant acidity.
Winemaking and ageing
The making of the Chassagne-Montrachet 1er Cru "Les Grandes Ruchottes" 2022 begins with a slow and gentle pressing of whole clusters. Fermentations start naturally thanks to indigenous yeasts. Ageing takes place over approximately one year in bespoke 456-litre oak barrels, a technical choice that helps preserve the purity of the fruit while limiting the oak imprint. Bâtonnage is kept to the strict minimum. The wine then rests for six months in stainless steel tanks before being bottled.
