Characteristics and tasting tips for the Bourgogne Pinot Noir 2022 Régis Bouvier
Tasting notes
Colour
The colour reveals a vivid, deep red hue, reflecting a fine extraction.
Nose
The nose offers an expressive bouquet dominated by fresh red fruit aromas such as cherry and raspberry, intertwined with black fruit notes of blackcurrant, blackberry and blueberry. Subtle floral touches of peony and violet blend with delicate mineral and spicy nuances.
Palate
On the palate, the wine stands out for its exceptionally smooth texture and delicate structure. The tannins, particularly soft and silky, accompany a lovely fullness. The whole is enhanced by a preserved freshness and a thirst-quenching acidity that give this wine a light, harmonious and almost sparkling profile.
Food and wine pairing
Highly versatile, this wine pairs beautifully with roasted poultry, feathered game or a mushroom risotto. It also goes very well with meaty fish such as grilled salmon or red mullet, as well as herb-infused pasta dishes or salads made with roasted root vegetables.
Service and storage
To fully appreciate this Bourgogne Pinot Noir 2022, it is recommended to serve it at a temperature between 14 and 16°C. This wine can be enjoyed now, but it will continue to develop in the cellar until around 2032.
Other characteristics
This wine has a moderate alcohol content, estimated between 12.5 and 13%.
The authentic expression of a red Burgundy wine
The estate
Founded in 1981 with just two hectares, Domaine Régis Bouvier is a respected figure in Burgundy, located in Marsannay-la-Côte. Representing the fifth generation of a family of winegrowers, Régis Bouvier now runs the estate alongside Eric Braghini and Sylvain Fleurentin. The vineyard now covers around 16 hectares spread across some sixty plots. Deeply committed to environmental respect, the estate practises sustainable farming, favouring soil management and hand-harvesting to express the full authenticity of its terroirs.
The vineyard
This Burgundy wine notably comes from the “En Montre Cul” lieu-dit, a plot known for its particularly steep topography. Located in the northernmost part of the appellation, the vines thrive on sandy, iron-rich soils that give the wine its distinctive mineral backbone.
The vintage
The year 2022 began with a mild winter that encouraged early budbreak, followed by a rapid and even flowering under mild temperatures. From mid-June onwards, the growing season was marked by intense heat and prolonged drought, punctuated by several heatwaves. Fortunately, timely rainfall in June and storms in mid-August allowed the vines to continue ripening their berries steadily, resulting in a generous harvest of remarkable quality.
Winemaking and aging
After an entirely hand-picked harvest and rigorous sorting, the grapes undergo a cold pre-fermentation maceration lasting about ten days. Fermentation is then punctuated by regular punch-downs under strict temperature control. This Bourgogne Pinot Noir 2022 is aged for six months in large 80-hectolitre wooden vats, a method chosen to preserve the brightness of the fruit ahead of an early bottling.
