Description
Characteristics and tasting notes of the Rocca di Frassinello Bianco 2021
Tasting notes
Colour
The colour reveals a brilliant pale straw yellow, illuminated by subtle greenish highlights.
Nose
Displaying beautiful freshness, the aromatic bouquet opens with delicate notes of white flowers and citrus fruits such as lemon and grapefruit, complemented by subtle herbaceous touches reminiscent of sage.
Palate
Silky and full-bodied, the palate offers a superb balance between a fruity core (yellow fruits, melon, mirabelle plum) and perfectly integrated acidity. The finish, remarkably persistent, stands out for its striking minerality and salinity.
Food and wine pairing
This white wine from Italy pairs wonderfully with grilled fish, seafood such as oysters or clams, as well as white meats or dishes featuring Mediterranean herbs.
Service and storage
With great potential, this Rocca di Frassinello Bianco 2021 can be enjoyed now or cellared for several years to develop further complexity.

The estate
Born in 1999 from an unprecedented alliance between Paolo Panerai and Baron Eric de Rothschild, Rocca di Frassinello is an iconic estate located in Tuscany, Italy. Still co-managed today by these two visionary figures, the estate spans 500 hectares, nearly 90 of which are dedicated to vines. Renowned for its spectacular gravity-flow winery designed by architect Renzo Piano, the estate also stands out for its environmental commitment and the celebration of its Etruscan archaeological heritage.
The vineyard
Located in the heart of the Maremma Toscana, the vineyard benefits from a warm Mediterranean climate, tempered by the constant sea breezes from the Tyrrhenian Sea. The vines thrive at altitudes of 90 to 170 metres on clay soils rich in calcareous marl and galestro, a rock typical of the region that gives the wines their mineral signature.
The vintage
The year 2021 began with a long period of drought, raising concerns about the freshness of the berries. However, a marked drop in night-time temperatures from early September onwards provided ideal ripening conditions, allowing the grapes to retain lovely acidity and optimal aromatic concentration.
Winemaking and aging
Following meticulous hand-picked harvesting, the berries are transferred to the vats by gravity. The Rocca di Frassinello Bianco 2021 is vinified in temperature-controlled stainless steel tanks, where malolactic fermentation also takes place. The wine is then aged on the lees for around ten months in tank, giving it texture and complexity, before resting for a further four months in bottle.
Grape variety
100% Vermentino
