An exceptional eau-de-vie from the Alsatian Vosges with intense Williams pear aromas
Distillerie Nusbaumer: artisanal know-how since 1947
Founded in 1947 by Joseph Nusbaumer in Steige in the Alsatian Vosges, the Nusbaumer distillery has perpetuated French artisanal know-how for over 75 years. Led today by Nicolas Lombard since 2018, this independent family business, labeled Entreprise du Patrimoine Vivant, stands out for its four Holstein stills that allow the simultaneous distillation of grains, fruits, and botanicals. Located at an altitude of 516 meters, Nusbaumer leverages the biodiversity of the Vosges and the pure spring water filtered through Climont’s schist to craft authentic fruit eaux-de-vie, liqueurs, and botanical spirits that truly reflect their Alsatian terroir.
Poire Williams Exception: a unique artisanal creation
Poire Williams Exception stands out for its distinctive production using red-skinned Williams pears—small, juicy, and particularly aromatic. The process begins with macerating the Williams pears in Poire Williams eau-de-vie for three weeks. This step is followed by artisanal distillation, then proofing with Steige spring water, pure and naturally filtered through Vosges schist. The entire process concludes with cold filtration, ensuring the purity and aromatic intensity of this exceptional eau-de-vie. The amber glass bottling and the manual application of wax attest to the artisanal care devoted to every bottle of this exceptional cuvée.
